Diskpart

These steps show how to use diskpart to fully wipe a drive even if it does not show when plugged in

  1. Run CMD as administrator.
  2. Start diskpart:
    diskpart

  3. List all plugged-in drives:
    list disk

  4. Choose the drive to wipe (replace 1 with the correct disk number):
    select disk 1

  5. Wipe the drive:
    clean all

    • You can use clean instead of clean all to only remove partitions.
    • If you get an error, wait a moment and try again a few times.
  6. Wait for the process to finish.
    • This may take several minutes and there are no visual progress indicators.

Note:
Be very careful to select the correct disk, as this process will erase all data on the selected drive.
